Discover Amed
Things to do in Amed, Bali
Diving, snorkeling, trekking, sunrise, local life — a slow destination with more to offer than it first appears
Amed doesn’t try to entertain you. There are no bars lining the beach, no traffic circles choked with tour groups, no theme parks disguised as culture. What Amed offers is something quieter and much harder to find in Bali: real ocean, real mountains, real silence. This guide covers every activity worth your time on the east coast.
More than just diving
Amed is an outdoor destination with a quiet soul
Most people come to Amed for the diving — and the diving is genuinely world-class, with the USS Liberty wreck at Tulamben just down the road and some of the best coral walls in Bali right off the black-sand beaches. But if you stop there you miss most of what makes Amed worth the drive from the south.
Sunrise over Mount Agung from the Amed hills is unlike anything else in Bali. The salt-farming villages along the coast are still working the same way they have for generations. And the pace of life here — unhurried, unperformed — is itself a kind of activity once you settle into it.
